The "Revived 45s" Party Playlist
The Idea
Some years ago a couple of friends decided to have a join 45th birthday celebration as they would both be hitting that minor landmark within a couple of months of each other.
The idea was hatched to have a party and get all the guests to choose the music playlist by nominating their favourite hit single of all time.
Explanation: For those born in the CD era, in the days when vinyl ruled the airwaves a "single" release was one song pressed onto each side of a 7 inch record that usually had to be played on a turntable at 45 revolutions per minute. Hence "a 45" which gave rise to the over-used radio DJ terminology of "revive(d) 45" meaning an old single dusted off and given a spontaneous airing.
The Reality
So, a themed cake was ordered (see picture), themed t-shirts were designed (see other picture) and nominations were laboriously collected and compiled onto (oh, the irony) a set of CDs for convenience. On the day then, here's what was played:
